I stumbled upon VirtualPromote back in early 1996 when I was looking for articles on how to better promote my Web site. I wrote to Jim and let him know how much I enjoyed his site and that I found the information very useful. We corresponded for a while, and he told me his idea about publishing some of them in the Gazette that he was creating. I asked him to add me to the distribution list, and I was one of the lucky ones to be on the list since the beginning, issue #1.
I contributed some articles, and we talked a little more over time. He then asked if I wanted to moderate in the forums and that he would create a topic especially for contests, sweepstakes, and other promotional items. I've been here since.
Jim was a very inspirational person, with the desire to help others through his knowledge and teachings. He pioneered Internet marketing and helped mold it to what it is today. His legacy will live on.
I never had the chance to talk to Cathy or Nick, but I want them to know that Jim and his Web sites are a very important part of my life. They give me the opportunity to give something back to the community. Jim will be missed. I will always send good wishes your way and do whatever I can to help this legacy live on.
Thank you, Jim, for all you've done for us and for all your hard work in making the Internet a better place. We respect and appreciate everything you've done.
Rest in peace,
-- Susan Erler
